UPDATE:

I got paid!

"This email confirms that you have received a payment of $40.00 USD from
bloggerwave"

————————————————————————————
Most of the websites I deal with are reputable and pay on time. Unfortunately, there are always exceptions to this. Case in point: Bloggerwave.

Bloggerwave presents itself as a consumer-generated advertising broker. Their interface is so similar to PayPerPost that several bloggers asked PayPerPost CEO Ted Murphy if Bloggerwave was the European arm of PPP during a PPP town hall chat. He replied that it wasn’t, and he was having his lawyers examine Bloggerwave. I assume for copyright or patent infringement, but he never made it clear what was being investigated.

My mistake was taking the opportunities without clarifying the payment terms. I assumed it would be 30 days… We all know what happens when you assume.

I signed up for Bloggerwave a month ago. It was obvious they were the new guys on the block, as the only opportunities available were for Bloggerwave itself and an affiliated company. I took both opportunities at $10 each, had them approved, then submitted a second blog and repeated the process. All 4 posts have been approved.

Over the weekend, many Bloggerwave bloggers received the following e-mail:

Dear all, We are having some issues we need to clarify. Please read the guidelines when taking jobs. Our advertisers will only pay of job is done proberly and demands are met. A lot of you guys out there are doing a great job, but we still see a lot of misunderstandings. Please attach both link to advertiser and our sponsered by bloggerwave picture. Its very important to inform that this is commercial marketing. Feel free to write to us of you have some things we can improve on. Best Regards Ulrik Thomsen CEO

The problem with this is that nobody has any idea what Ulrik is talking about when he mentions a Bloggerwave picture. In fact, Bloggerwave’s TOS are practically non-existent:
The following are the details to our Privacy Policy at Bloggerwave. We value the importance of privacy and consequently, take care of all information received in a responsible manner. This Policy concerns all of the services offered by Bloggerwave

That’s it. Nor was there anything mentioned in the text associated with each opportunity about a picture. And one of those opportunities was Bloggerwave’s own!

My mistake was taking the opportunities without clarifying the payment terms. I assumed it would be 30 days, like PPP, since Bloggerwave copied everything else from PPP. We all know what happens when you assume.

Thirty days have come and gone since my first two posts without payment. I sent a friendly reminder yesterday, with no response yet. Tomorrow’s e-mail will not be friendly.

My assumption is that the e-mail sent by Ulrik was a pre-emptive move to buy time. Is Bloggerwave out of money? We can’t know for sure since they aren’t returning e-mails or communicating with bloggers, pointing us to this phantom Bloggerwave picture.

I’m removing the link to Bloggerwave from the sidebar until I hear anything that would lead me to believe Bloggerwave is legitimate. Unfortunately, the only weapon bloggers have against these companies is to remove their links and their posts and raise the warning flag for other bloggers.
