Not to say that women make up the majority of this population, but they seem to do a good job of networking, education, and promotion through the forums.
J Dwivedi has started a series of interviews with “Dollar Bloggers” (I kind of like that label!), starting with Lisa Martin (mythoughtsideasandramblings.com) and Kat Cooper (My Single Mom Life). It is great to read how each approaches their blogging, and it will be interesting to see over time if there is a profile that emerges for “dollar bloggers”.
It is a diverse crowd, to be sure, but from my participation in some forums I find a higher proportion of women versus men involved in blogging for money. Not to say that women make up the majority of this population, but they seem to do a good job of networking, education, and promotion through the forums. My own participation, limited though it may be, only occurs because I profoundly underemployed and underutilized at work.
Here’s a couple takeaways:
Kat Cooper: Be serious about it. This is a job just like any other. If you do bad work, it shows, your readers know it’s bad, you may get booted from the companies you work for.Lisa Martin: It takes a lot of work. This is not just write on your blog and you are done. You have to worry about your PageRank, your Alexa score, and your Technorati authority. Every company wants different things from you. You need to network. You need to comment on others blogs.
Good stuff, and there’s more good advice from these ladies, so go check it out.
