Have you ever wondered why you see so many bloggers blogging about blogging?
Check out the search trends of blog vs. sex, porn, poker, or gambling.
If you’re looking for a niche to blog in, checking out search trends is a good place to begin. Not only will you see traffic that follows the trend (if you’re putting out quality content!), you’ll also advertisers in those niches come to you once you’re established.
Been there, done that. Poker has been very good to me. But, until the laws in the US change, it’s a mature niche. Still lucrative, definitely a cash cow, but I won’t get rich from it.
Fact is, you can monetize almost any blog in almost any niche with paid posts. Barriers to entry are extremely low. But, if you’re going to make big money at it, you have to find that growing niche.
