Ok, it’s a lame headline. I admit it, I’m not at the top of my game today.

So, PPP has reorganized it’s brands. You can read all about it at this sweet ass site.

As I cruised the web for the last 24 hrs looking for reaction (beacuse I’m not at the top of my game and completely bereft of an original thought this week), I was stunned at how wrong some pretty smart people can be. PayPerPost is still PayPerPost, they’ve just created this corporate umbrella brand and made the PPP brand “just” one of many - the most important for now, to be sure - but when I saw the Argus beta back in early summer, there was WAY more going on than just paid reviews. The vision of what internet marketing could be is what impressed me the most, and these guys were setting about to make it happen.

And now you have Calacanis chortling like a virtual hyena about this being related to Google’s smackdown.

Whaaaaaa?

PPP started working on Argus back in late spring. And, while Argus has a strong Analytics component, it’s much more than Analytics. Stepping outside of PPP and Argus, the company has other related properties that are also valuable, so it makes sense to have an umbrella. The name change was floated to PPP bloggers weeks ago and had been in the works for much longer.

As for the name… it was better than the alternatives. Somewhere in someone’s comments I half-joked that they floated the throwaway names first knowing they would be shot down, then gave us “Izea” to chew on like “hey, he were going to throw this one out, but what do you think?”… I bet I was right. Any takers? In true IZEA fashion, the loser has to do a video with the URL of the winning blogger’s choice written on their forehead?

(Keep in mind, I have two poker blog domains that use the words “Big Slick Nuts“… I’m just saying, do you want to risk “Big Slick Nuts” slapped on your forehead… ?)

Anyway, that doesn’t sound like a company reacting to anything. Sounds like a proactive company that set out to create it’s own success instead of depending on Google.

As usual, Andy Beard provides the authoritative statement on all things bloggery: Controversial Izea While I Slept. Andy makes more sense than the US Mint, so check it out.

Nice work-in of “sweet ass”. Very impressive.

Have my baby.

It’s often the simplest ideas that work the best.
