In my “real life”, I have worked in marketing and supply chain. Frequently, my job entailed research - market research to determine target companies to sell our products and services to, or supplier research, to determine companies that had a product or service we required. Online industrial directories are my first stop in this kind of research.
For instance, suppose you were asked to find a source for industrial belts. Your first reaction might be “Huh?”. But, if you stop for a moment and think about it, these type of products are used in all kind of devices so it stands to reason there is a market of distributors and manufacturers with the critical mass to be found. So, just a tip: Keep online industrial directories in mind when you need to research a market.
