Should PayPerPost file an antitrust claim against Google?

Came across this article thanks to Digg: Could PayPerPost Have an Antitrust Case Against Google?

To think that an antitrust case isn’t part of the exit strategy at IZEA is probably naive. If Socialspark catches fire, there would probably not be any action. But, if theyre just treading water and burning cash, a lawsuit does two things: First, it might force Google to go back to relying on an objective algorithm rather than subjective humans, and second, it might be easier for Google to pony up the cash to buy IZEA out rather than fight it out in court.

As stakeholders in what happens, a lot of bloggers like myself are anxious and impatient, but we don’t have the wherewithal to fight the battle in court. With money in the bank, IZEA can afford to wait a while and see how the market develops, and it can be expected any decisions that are made down the road will be in the best interest of the investors, as it should be.

What say you?

Hold up tiger. Has an exit strategy been discussed by Izea? If you have an inside source you’ve been holding out on us. ;-)

Google is doing what Microsoft does best. Leveraging their monopoly position to stomp out competition. Izea’s board of directors should have suggested immediate action in saving face with the bloggers that make up PayPerPost. Instead Izea followed immediately behind Google and dropped us like hot potatoes. This was a huuuge mistake.

We’re bloggers. We blog about things. So what do you get with disgruntled blogs? Lots of bitching. So if the real exit strategy was to go public or merge with Yahoo! or Microsoft then they screwed their reputation in the long term.

It would have taken two to three months for Izea to prop their bloggers. Long enough for everyone to feel happy and throw their support behind SocialSpark and IzeaRank. Advertisers would flock to the platform seeing all these bloggers going ape shit with crazy love for Izea.

Instead you have bloggers discussing how poisonous a relationship is with PayPerPost. “Posties” made the company so why ignore their needs. This was the perfect chance to use the David (Izea) versus Goliath (Google) card.

So now it’s nearly Feb. 2008 and instead of SocialSpark being heralded by the masses of bloggers as the second coming of online ranking. We see them discussing jumping/dumping the PayPerPost ship before it sinking into irrelevance.
